America's 60's Invited to Walk the Red Carpet at MMPA Oscar Week Student Filmmaker's Scholarship Luncheon

The luxurious Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills was the site of the 19th Annual  Scholarship and Civic Award  luncheon honoring student filmmakers selected for their creative achievement.  Winners received financial awards to help fund their continuing education as well as having film companies arrange technical support with mentors at production companies.

Some of the invited guests included Academy Award Winner Louis Gossett Jr. and Academy Award Nominee Sally Kirkland, who Christy had the pleasure of meeting.  Many notables were at the red carpet including Mrs. California American Show Biz 2012, Carmelita Pittman.

Two of the nominees, Raoul and Robbie Oversloot, asked Christy Passoth, our Beauties 60's to be in a brief skit which was filmed on the spot and  certainly added to the fun of the event.

There were even "Swag Gift Bags" given to all in attendance and Sharold Jones handed these out to all the guests and luminaries as they left this Filmmakers' Scholarship Luncheon on the 24th of February, just two days before the big Academy Awards televised event.

Christy Passoth, America's 60's, Makes Life a 'Little Sweeter' for Kids at the Salvation Army and for Our Heroic Disabled Veterans

Christy created a "Service-Learning Project" in her classroom, "Valentines for Veterans," and over 150 seventh-grade students wrote original heart-felt poems conveying respect, honor, and appreciation to our country's veterans. Christy explains, "Their poetic writing skills illustrate their values of character; these students are making a difference in the world."

The special hand-crafted valentines were boxed up and sent to the Spinal Cord Injury Ward at the Long Beach, California Veterans' Hospital.   This project even received media attention and was published in the local paper.

On the 13th of February, Christy took candy and boxes of valentines to the Salvation Army in Ontario, California, where she worked with the children addressing and preparing valentines to be given out in the classrooms on the following day, Valentine's Day.  "Every child should have valentines to give to their classmates; it's a small happiness all children should experience."

It's important to our 60's queen, Christy, to "sweeten things up"  for our veterans and children in need.   Community service is a "Beauties of America" essential for all  queens and title holders, one which is a pleasure to render.
