Following a 27 Year Tradition of Excellence

As a contestant, national titleholder, state director, and now national director for the Beauties of America pageant, I have had the honor and privilege of seeing first hand the uniquely wonderful experience Beauties of America offers women of all ages. Our tagline says it best, "Celebrating Beauty and Achievement at Every Age. TM"

My first order of business upon accepting the national directorship was to assemble the best team possible to carry on the tradition of excellence women have come to experience as participants in the Beauties of America program. With such a strong history of positively impacting the women who become a part of the Beauties family, I knew I had my work cut out for me.

Much time and consideration was given to ensure the support team, which is the backbone of our system, was the best group of advisors, sponsors and professionals in the business. I believe we have accomplished this goal.

In the coming weeks and months we will be featuring on this blog the members of the Beauties of America team, and the national queens who are the faces and voices of our wonderful program. With some of the most respected and well known women in the country as Beauties of America national titleholders, alum and program staff, I think you will agree, Beauties of America is a pageant like no other.

I hope you enjoy the blog articles!

Blessings for a fantastic 2011,

Armed Forces Foundation Deployed Childrens Holiday Party

On December 18th I was a volunteer for the Armed Forces Foundation Deployed Childrens Holiday Party at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C.

If you didn't know, I am a "army brat" as they affectionately say and my father proudly served in several branches of the military. Coming from a military background, I truly have a high respect for not only our military personnel but their families too.

I was almost brought to tears a few times when the children shared their stories of love for their deployed parents. I was also so happy to see how pageant queens of all systems and individuals from many backgrounds came together for this holiday event. I met not only some other great queens but I also met some beautiful ladies from the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins cheerleading squads had the honor of watching the USAF Honor Guard Drill Team perform and last but not least I got to meet Santa & Mrs. Claus :)

Throughout the event, I had a couple of jobs which included helping the kids make cards for their deployed parents, taking pictures with all the little children and making the "princess pageant sashes" for all the little girls at the event. During this time, it was nice to chat with all the little girls. They shared their stories on how they wanted to be in a pageant someday and asked me how to do it and what they needed to do. The biggest thing that I felt compelled to share with them was to be proud of who they were, let their inner light shine on stage and to never give up (as I competed three times before I won my title).

It was truly a wonderful event and I would like to thank Dawn Hicks, Joe Finch and all the individuals at the Armed Forces Foundation who put this day together for the kids.

Enjoy the pictures below.................

Helping to cheer up this little princess who was sad her dad was deployed. Her mom was so thankful.

Was so touched by this photo as all the little children were so excited to make cards for their deployed parents.

America's 20s Jana Murrell Is Guest Speaker

America's 20s Jana Murrell was guest speaker at the Miss Essence Tea Party speaking to the ladies about the responsibility of a titleholder for volunteer and civic work.

Afterward,
Jana had the honor of crowning the newest little members of royalty and welcome them to the noble service of volunteerism and community service.

Making Art Fun A Part of The Day For America's 20s Jana Murrell

America's 20s Jana Murrell with one of 45 giant snails placed all over Miami Beach. Strategically placed throughout the city, this public art series is designed to inspire a community-wide conversation about the importance of recycling and its environmental impact, while leaving a potent artistic trace on the Miami Beach community. Of course we love that Jana found a perfectly pink snail for her photo op!

America's 20s Jana Murrell Surprises A Very Special Little Girl

Making a very special visit to Miami Children's Hospital, America's 20s Jana Murrell came complete with gifts. Visiting a little girl with sickle cell disease, Jana was there to cheer her up and make her feel like a princess.

The two spent time chatting and Jana showed her just how great it is to be queen by bringing her a princess sash and her very own crown! Nice job, Jana!

MISS ATLANTIC COAST & MISS TEEN ATLANTIC COAST PAGEANTS

This past Sunday I had the honor of judging the Miss Atlantic Coast America & Miss Atlantic Coast Teen America Pageants in Dover, DE. These are the official local preliminaries to the Miss Delaware and Miss Delaware's Outstanding Teen America Programs. It was such an honor to be a part of this inaugural event and be invited by couple of wonderful ladies, the local directors - Shana Williams and Maurene Bullock.

Everything from the entertainment to the contestants competing were top notch!! It was also wonderful to re-connect with some great people on the judges panel as well that I had not seen in a long time.

I have to say as I judge this year, it is wonderful to see all the ladies that compete and their passion for truly helping their communities in a positive way.

At the end of the evening two new winners were crowned. Congrats to the inagural Miss Atlantic Coast 2011 Tierra Fair and Miss Atlantic Coast Outstanding Teen 2011 Emily Rufo.

Pictures to come soon!!

2010 America's 40's does Oldies-106.7 Christmas Radio Remote

Today was a very fun day. I was invited by my long-time friend, and local celebrity DJ, Scott Tom of Oldies 106.7 Radio to participate in their Christmas Radio Remote.
His beautiful wife Adele, was also on hand being an "elf," and handing out the many prizes the mall Christmas shoppers where winning.
We sang Christmas Carols, posed for the camera, and most of all got very much in the Christmas spirit.

It was a wonderful afternoon, and I was honored to have been part of it.
Happy Holidays,

America's 50s Kathy Lauer Has a Delicious Time!

Lets face it, two things pageant girls love are parades and cookies. So imagine how much fun America's 50s Kathy Lauer had as she joined spectators and participants and enjoyed warm, sunny weather at the Oro Valley (Arizona) Holiday Parade.

Of course we love that our favorite entry America's 50s Kathy Lauer was greeted by a sweet group of Girl Scout cookies from Troop 174. Kathy isn't telling, but we suspect there were a few sweet treats at the end of this parade!

Uniquely Beautiful!

Beauties of America is celebrating its 27th year of recognizing the beauty and achievement of women of all ages.  And, with each passing year the program continues to grow and get better!

The first of its kind, the Beauties of America Pageant became the seminole organization to afford women a pageant which recognizes women of different ages and experiences should be honored as such.  "A twenty year old woman and and fifty year old woman are in different stages of life. Each offers her own unique perspective", said Debra Gilmour, public relations director for Beauties of America.  "This pageant gives recognition to the woman based on who she at a particular time in her life", Debra said.

As you can see from our new media ad, each of our national queens represents the best of what makes America beautiful.  From a teen's point of view to the vantage point of a grandmother and every stage in between, women across the country can relate to our Beauties of America family!

For more information on becoming a delegate for the Beauties of America Pageant please send an email to: info@beautiesofamerica.com, and learn how you can enter!
